A hair cut is almost a necessity in modern day living. Men, women and children schedule appointments and get hair cuts several times during the course of a year. Now, everyone can understand a women’s sophisticated hair styling requirements and associated perms and other services to add up in cost. But what about a simple hair cut for a man or a child? Why should that be so high, one may wonder.

The answer simply lies in the overheads needed to operate a hair dressing salon or a barber styling shop. The costs to get a cosmetologist license in many states in America is not cheap and can run into the thousands of dollars. This cost has to be recovered somehow and guess where that comes from; that’s right, it comes from the price of the hair cut.

Additionally, there are costs of rent, electricity and supplies, the former two being quite high especially in urban areas and large cities. The hair dressing salon owner has to make up for the costs of all these overheads before he or she can pay themselves and hopefully turn a small profit. It is this profit that helps them keep the doors open during lean economic times, when people reduce the frequency of their hair styling visits and hair styling purchases.

So, let the hair dresser make a living and stop complaining all the time!
