In February, we saw the surfacing of the blue screen of death in the form of a malware herald. Many users experienced system reboots in the month of February when they applied the updates from Microsoft , but the consensus was it wasn’t the result of patches.
After further research it was determined that the problems were created by a form of malware which hides other malware, which is known as a root kit. Microsoft found that the problems stemmed from changes made to the system files which allowed the rootkit to cause the problems after the patches were installed.

They also reported that a large number of Web issues that occurred in 2009 were the result of malicious PDF files created for targeting Adobe security leaks. The most recent fix from Adobe for it’s Acrobat and Reader products brings the Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX versions up to date to 9.3.1.
It was also reported that a security leak exists in Adobe’s Download Manager product. The issues exists where an attacker could install malicious software onto your system when the download manager fails to remove itself after installing Reader and Flash Player utilities. So security update notifiers are basically softwares that look into all the softwares installed into your pc and keep a look on the availability of the any latest update, modification or improvement in the existing form of the software. These softwares then inform you about the update and will also provide the link for downloading the update. Even if the software is having no bug in any software bad software developers always look for ways to find week points in a given popular software to make that infect and hack your system. So this is one another reason why software updates are necessary for each software to make the software secure from attacks and to improve their own performance so as to keep itself in the front row.
