aesthetic appeal to your house, and are reflective of your style. If you are in
South Africa, you certainly cannot avoid the outdoors as most people have a
backyard or garden where they entertain their friends and family. Irrespective
of the size and style, there are some furniture types that shall never go out of
fashion. Here are some of them:
Wooden
Garden Furniture: Wood was once a popular choice for furniture until it was
replaced by cheaper varieties. But for those who prefer to add some style and
elegance to their patio, this is undoubtedly the best choice. Cedar, teak, and
mahogany are popular choice for wooden furniture. Although they need
maintenance, it is minimal. In fact, teak furniture is so impervious to weather
that it is often left out in the open all year long with little care and
maintenance. The wood does give out a silver gray shade, but this adds to its
appeal.
Wrought Iron: Wrought iron furniture is ideal for a patio that is
designed in a contemporary style. They are durable and strong, but need
maintenance to ensure that they are weather resistant. You can choose from a
wide variety of chairs, loungers, and tables that are made using wrought iron.
The downside to using this is probably the expense involved. They are known to
be more expensive than wooden patio
furniture. Regular maintenance also adds
Aluminum: Aluminum is light weight, durable and does not rust. But they aren’t preferred for gardens when style is a consideration. Besides, if you live in an area that is exposed to high winds, aluminum isn’t the right choice. High quality powder coated aluminum is a better choice as the furniture is scratch resistant and also adds a high gloss effect. But the cost of these is high.
Plastic: This is undoubtedly the most common choice for people looking for some cheap alternatives. Typical plastic furniture is made using polypropylene or polyethylene. Furnitures in the higher range include fiberglass strands to strengthen designs. The problem with these is that of cleaning. Plastic surfaces have dimpled surfaces that are difficult to clean. Over time they lose their sheen unlike wooden garden furniture that are known to look classy as they age. Aesthetics can also be a problem. Even though plastic furniture is available in a wide variety of designs, at the end of the day, it is plastic. But if you are someone who would want to change the look of your patio every year this is the best choice.
These are just some of the choice available. Besides the ones mentioned above, you can also choose from sling, fiberglass, and even concrete. When it comes to some good quality wooden garden furniture, there isn’t a better choice that wooden garden furniture.
